The angelic carousel horse depicted in this print is based on an original oil painting of a carousel horse from the shop of Willian Dentzel. Starting at around 1903, the Dentzel factory was overseen by a very talented Italian furniture carver. Under his direction, the horses that were produced were embellished with flowing draperies, ribbons and delicately carved figures like the angel shown in this painting. The print measures 14.5 x 11.5 inches and the actual image is 11.25 x 9.25 inches. The border edge of the print is a light cream color and the image is offset by a 3 porcelain blue lines which give the print the effect of all ready being matted. Jim has over 150 hours of work on the original painting as can be seen in the detailed impressionistic background and the horse's ornamentation. This print is highly suitable for a child's room - or for decor of any carousel fan. Also available as a note card.
